How to convert units
Choose a category and select the two units. Enter a number in either value field to convert in that direction. Swap units exchanges the selected units and their current values.
Quick conversions
After you enter a value, Quick conversions shows useful results in other common units from the selected category. It is a short practical list, not every possible unit.
Regional unit definitions
UtiliBits does not infer unit definitions from your location. Where names can be ambiguous, the interface labels each definition explicitly. These include US gallon and Imperial gallon, US and Imperial fluid ounce, pint and quart, plus Metric tonne, US short ton and Imperial long ton.
US customary and Imperial liquid measures differ. The available volume units also include US cup, Metric teaspoon and Metric tablespoon, but the converter does not claim comprehensive international cooking-measure support.
Temperature conversion
Convert between Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin. The converter rejects values below absolute zero.
Decimal and binary data units
Decimal SI units use KB, MB, GB and TB. Binary IEC units use KiB, MiB, GiB and TiB. MiB and MB are different units, and 1 byte equals 8 bits.
Display precision
Displayed values are rounded for readability, while calculations retain the unrounded numeric value. This everyday converter is not a substitute for specialist metrology or legal calibration.
Your values stay private
Conversions happen in your browser and values are not sent to UtiliBits. Entered and converted values are not placed in URLs, structured data, prerendered HTML, analytics or logs.
Frequently asked questions
Which types of unit can I convert?
You can convert length, mass and weight, temperature, area, volume, speed, time and data units.
Can I enter a value on either side?
Yes. Enter a value in either field and the other field updates. Use Swap units to exchange the selected units and their values.
Does the converter choose regional units from my location?
No. UtiliBits does not infer a unit definition from your location. Units with different regional definitions are labelled explicitly, such as US gallon and Imperial gallon.
Are US and Imperial liquid measures the same?
No. US customary and Imperial gallons, fluid ounces, pints and quarts have different definitions, so the converter lists them as separate units.
Which temperature units are supported?
The converter supports Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin. It rejects temperatures below absolute zero.
What is the difference between MB and MiB?
MB is a decimal SI unit and MiB is a binary IEC unit. They are different units, not different spellings of the same unit. One byte equals 8 bits.
How does the converter handle precision?
Displayed results are rounded for readability. Further conversions use the unrounded numeric value held by the converter, but the tool does not provide specialist metrology or legal calibration.
Are my values uploaded or stored?
No. Conversions happen in your browser. UtiliBits does not receive the values or add them to URLs, structured data, prerendered HTML, analytics or logs.
